The theme of 2021’s International Women’s Day is Choose to Challenge. Together, we can choose to challenge gender bias and inequality and celebrate women’s achievements. #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021

This year, the MIT Women in Supply Chain Initiative (WISCI) is hosting a special International Women’s Day leadership panel to celebrate the women working in the supply chain field and how they have worked to achieve gender balance across their organizations.

Join WISCI’s leader Katie Date, Julie Van de Kamp, Vice President for Customer Experience at U.S. Xpress, and Tricia Brannigan, Vice President for Procurement at The Hershey Company to discuss the challenges they have faced in leadership roles in supply chain management, what challenges they see and how they plan on addressing them. We will discuss the strategies and tools Tricia and Julie use both upstream and downstream in their management styles.

The MIT CTL Women in Supply Chain Initiative (WISCI) seeks to better understand gender balance in supply chain management. We aim to create knowledge and tools for people interested in creating more gender balance in their organizations. Through a series of events, outreach, and engagement, we plan to bring the supply chain community together to share in the insights, experiences, and knowledge of inspiring women who are leaders in their industries and in their supply chain roles. Through this work, we will develop the best practices that ensure continued growth in attracting and retaining talented women into the supply chain field.
